First off, I would like to thank you for your time and your interest. My name is Jesse C. Mathews II born and raised in Ohio. I am 40yrs old and the founder/owner of Premier Auction Galleries. Having grown up around auctions since the age of 8, maybe younger, I've always had an interest. For those of you that know my father you know what I mean when I say that since the age of 8 I've been in and out of auctions all throughout the country and for those of you that may not, well allow me to take a moment and inform you. Jessie Carl Mathews, aka "Mr. Willoughby’s, Papa Genius and Carl", a well known antique dealer and collector, owned several retail shops in and around the Cleveland Ohio for well over 30yrs. He was most recognized for his large quality, large quantity, entertaining, several days and well marketed antique auctions. My dad established, supplied and built some of the most well know auction houses in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi and now he has become a consultant with Premier Auction Galleries. His associates and contacts are some the most well known in the Antique, Fine Art and collectible marketplace. Much of his work ethic, networking, knowledge and experience have been absobed by me and will do me well in my auction house endeavors! After entering corporate America slightly after graduation and working several years with Gould Electronics Inc I began to feel as if micro management and the corporate world may not be for me. Although, I also felt that working side by side everyday all day with my father could be like a death sentence! I couldn't have been more right...jk! With seeing much corporate downsizing and no apparent future, I began to search for a different future for myself. Still working with my father in the antiques and auctions I decided to attend Hondros College for Real Estate. Completing the courses and passing the state required exam I began selling Real Estate in 2003. Now, new to Real Estate and working more with Papa Genius, I saw a need for auctioneers in the Real Estate and personal property in Ohio. I decided then to get registered and attend Ohio's Walton School of Auctioneers. Having completed the required course along with a 2yr internship I was ready. So, for the next year I would just focus on building contacts, mailing lists and learning the auction industry. While working side by side with my father, picking his brain, meeting his mentoring associates and conducting auctions, that time turned out to be some of the greatest father son experiences one could ask for!! Life is short and memories last for every! From the auctions, road trips, to business matters and conflicts…to some memorable arguments for not apologizing to his dog!
